Christopher Powell, a registered member of the Peepeekisis Tribe of Saskatchewan, gained an interest in sculpting from the encouragement of two uncles who were sculptors themselves. Following high school, Chris apprenticed at a bronze scultpure studio in Denver. He advanced from apprentice to foundry manager and has been working on scultures for 15 years hence.
In 2000, Chris was commissioned by the Colorado Avalanche NHL team to create a bust of famed goaltender, Patrick Roy. For near 10 years, Chris has honed his body of work that emphasizes tribal themes as well as wildlife. His sculptures are known for their polished surfaces and rare patination processes.
Native American Trading Company is proud to represent Chris. We will be displaying many more of Chris' pieces in the gallery and on the web so please check back often.
